In todays Adventure Where We Live, we talk about sledding, tubing and snow play around Rim Country. Families sometimes want to build snowmen and tube down hills as opposed to skiing. Rim Country is perfect for that, and we have a few suggestions on where to go!

Adventure Where We Live ” The Jimmy Harris Trail at EAC”

In this week’s Adventure Where We Live, we take a hike on the Jimmy Harris Trail, located at Eastern Az Colleges Payson Campus, formally Gila Community College, 201 N. Md Springs Rd.

Set among towering pines and weaving through thickets of manzanita, the trail feels as if it is in the deep forest, but actually lies just a stones throw from Hwy 260!

In this weeks Adventure Where We Live we continue with dog friendly trails around Rim Country.  The Monument Peak Trail, the Cypress Trail, the Pine Canyon Trail, & the Deer Creek Trail (plus a mention of the dog park & Mogollon Rim)!

In this weeks Adventure Where We Live we talk about dog friendly trails around Rim Country.  The Barnhardt Trail is one, and another is the Loop Trail at Gila Community College (plus a mention of the dog park)!

ADVENTURE WHERE WE LIVE “Monument Peak Trail”

In todays Adventure Where We Live, we take a hike on the Monument Peak Trail.  It’s one of the easier trails in the Payson Area Trails System, with a distance right around 4 miles.  This trail has plenty to offer hikers, including beautiful views of Granite Dells.

ADVENTURE WHERE WE LIVE Hiking or Mountain Biking “The Bearfoot Trail”

Located near Pine, the trail offers a combination of views, forest, a meadow and stream.  A 5-mile one-way, or a10-mile out and back trail primarily used for hiking and mountain biking. The skill level is intermediate.

ADVENTURE WHERE WE LIVE ”Fishing Clear Creek”

On this weeks “Adventure Where We Live”, we take a fishing trip on East Clear Creek on the Mogollon Rim north of Pine/Strawberry.  Both East & West Clear Creek offer wild fish and wilderness fishing opportunities. Most of the trout will be rainbows, but in the deeper canyon pools some trophy German browns can be found!

ADVENTURE WHERE WE LIVE “The Barbershop Trail”

“The Barbershop Trail” North  of Payson off Forest Road 300.  The rather unique name for this trail comes from a sheepherder who once lived in the area and who used his shearing blades to give haircuts to cowboys as well as for shearing the wooly sheep!  Barbershop Trail meanders through a pleasant region of open forests and shallow canyons, and provides an excellent place to enjoy a woodland stroll or a weekend backpack.
