ADVENTURE WHERE WE LIVE / The Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery

​The Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery is located approximately 21 miles north-east of Payson in the Tonto National Forest.  At 6,500 ft., the area is perfect for picnics, hiking, and observing wildlife. There is an abundance trees including Ponderosa and the fall colors can be great in this area! The hatcheries unique setting provides habitat for many wildlife species. Rainbow and brown trout are raised at the hatchery, as well at the state fish of Arizona, the Apache trout.
